Tournaments Results

Friday 28th February SGS headed down to Yas Links Golf club to take on Abu Dhabi Golf Society for the first Society Ryder Cup.

With each team having 16 players each for a Stableford match play for the chance to be crowned the winners 2020.

SGS arrived at the club with a few nervous players as we were on home turf for Abu Dhabi Golf Society and a very challenging course to take on, were we confident? 100% not, however after a quick warm-up, team photos and motivational team talk by the chairman we headed out to see where our fate we lay and try and bring up the trophy.

Throughout the course, there was plenty of opportunities for the players to pick up some on-course prizes, here were the winners.

HOLE 4- Nearest the pin - Kieran Farrelly
HOLE 8- Nearest the pin - Keelan Bolger
HOLE 7 - Longest Drive (Cat 1-14) - Oscar Lind
HOLE 11 - Longest Drive (Cat 15-28) - Ben Hoyle
HOLE 13 - Nearest the pin - Kieran Farrelly
HOLE 16 - Nearest the pin in 2 - Patrick O'Donoghue
HOLE 17 - Nearest the pin - John Barron

Along with the prizes and the Matchplay for the Ryder cup, we ran an individual Stableford competition, as you will see Abu Dhabi Golf Society had a strong performance with all their players in the top 3.

1st - Jake Madden - 44 points
2nd - Patrick O'Donoghue - 38 points
3rd - Ruairi Carr - 36 points

Now we come to the main prize, the Society Ryder Cup.

The results came in one by one and it was looking very close, it was so close it came down to the last 4 ball to complete the day and give the win to SGS.

ADGS - 7 1/2
SGS - 8 1/2

We are super proud of all our players who dug in deep and got the win over the line.

The first ever winners of the Society Ryder Cup is SOCIAL GOLF SOCIETY.

We look forward to hosting ADGS later on in the year at our home club Trump Golf Club.
